Tego Assistant And AI Search
The AppTego Portal includes two read-only AI-assisted features for product help and log query generation:
- Tego Assistant answers questions about AppTego documentation and platform usage. It is available on all plans with plan-specific weekly message limits.
- AI Search converts plain-language questions into structured filters in supported data views. It is available on Team and Enterprise plans, although the log pages where it currently appears are Enterprise-only.
Both features are read-only and respect tenant boundaries and user permissions. They can explain, search, and summarize; they cannot change configuration or perform actions on your behalf.
Tego Assistant
Open The Assistant
Click the Tego Assistant icon in the portal. The chat panel opens alongside the page you are viewing, and your conversation can continue as you move through the portal.
What You Can Ask
The assistant can answer questions across AppTego documentation areas, including:
- Configuration: "How do I configure screen recording detection?"
- Security events: "Where can I review jailbreak detections?"
- Audit activity: "How do Audit Logs work?"
- Platform help: "How do I set up SAML SSO?" or "How should I start a first rollout?"
Use the portal UI or API for changes. The assistant cannot save configuration, promote environments, create builds, manage users, or alter billing.
Conversation History
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Send | Sends a message and streams the assistant response. |
| History | Reopening the panel restores your previous conversation. |
| Clear | Deletes your conversation history for this tenant. |
| Status | Shows weekly usage, remaining messages, and the next reset time. |
The assistant keeps recent conversation context so follow-up questions can refer to earlier messages. Stored conversation messages expire automatically after about one day, and Clear removes the visible history for the tenant/user conversation.
Weekly Usage Limits
Each plan has a weekly message cap per tenant. The default caps are:
| Plan | Default Tego Assistant messages |
|---|---|
| Free | 10 per UTC week |
| Team | 100 per UTC week |
| Enterprise | 1,000 per UTC week |
When the tenant reaches its limit:
- The assistant returns a notice that the cap has been reached.
- The cap resets at the start of the next UTC week.
- The assistant panel shows the current usage and remaining messages.
Some tenants may have a custom tenant limit configured by AppTego.
AI Search
AI Search appears in supported log views such as Audit Logs and Device Logs. Type a natural-language query, review the generated filter and time range, then apply it to the search form.
AI Search is in beta. Results may not always be accurate, so review the generated query before searching, reporting, or using the result in an investigation.
Examples
| Plain-language query | Example filter intent |
|---|---|
| "Root detection events from the US today" | Device events with event_type = 'root_detection' and country = 'US' for today. |
| "All failed API calls today" | Audit events with successful = false for today. |
| "Config changes in the last 7 days" | Audit events whose api_call relates to configuration changes in the last week. |
You can edit the resulting filters before re-running the query.
AI Search Usage Limits
AI Search usage is tracked separately from Tego Assistant messages. Default AI Search limits are 100 conversions per month for Team tenants and 200 conversions per month for Enterprise tenants. Free tenants cannot use AI Search.
Privacy
- Tego Assistant conversation history is scoped to the authenticated user and tenant.
- AI Search returns generated filters and time ranges; the actual log results still come from the tenant-scoped Audit Logs or Device Logs views you are allowed to access.
- Conversation history is stored so it can be resumed; use Clear to delete it for the tenant/user conversation.
- See the Privacy Policy for AI-related data handling details.
Permissions
Tego Assistant is available on all plans. AI Search requires Team or Enterprise access, and the current Audit Logs and Device Logs pages require Enterprise access.
